48 Cupcakes

To the average seven or nine year old, 48 cupcakes don’t have much meaning. But, to mine these cupcakes represent their mom being a person of her word.

As each boy turned another year older, I promised them that I would bring cupcakes to their school to celebrate their birthdays. Well, being that one child turned seven in November and the other nine in February, my work schedule and hoildays didn’t permit me to bring them in a timely fashion. But I never forgot what I told them.

Being a person of your word is a quality we should all strive to have. If you say you’re gonna be somewhere at a particular time and for whatever reason you’re going to be late. Simply connect with the person waiting and let them know your status. If you say you’re going to call someone and circumstances happen that don’t allow you to call, you can send a quick text to say, call you in a few.

It’s the simple things that build trust in any relationship. No one is perfect and things do come up that may cause a interference, distraction or change in schedule. But, simply communicate to the person on the receiving end the change and they won’t begin to mistrust you.

So yes, 48 cupcakes may be just a yummy treat to their classmates, but to my boys it shows them that their mom is a woman of her word!
